The Swedish Authors’ Fund administers, on behalf of the State, the Public Lending Right - compensation to originators for the use of their books in Swedish public and school libraries.

This compensation is paid to authors, translators and illustrators in the form of:

• Individual remuneration corresponding to lending frequency or in the form of guaranteed remuneration
• Grants, pensions etc.

The Authors’ Fund also administers:

• State income guarantees and state grants to authors, playwrights, translators and journalists in the arts
• Playwright subsidies (State subsidy for commissioning new Swedish plays)
• Grants for travel and international exchanges
• Grants for sample translations
